Books by B. Groys

Since I liked Groys's books on Socialist Realism in Stalin's era, I compiled this lists of his publications. Currently, I am interested in where the Socialist Realist topic comes up again in his writing and how it changed over the last 20 years. I include edited volumes, also.

There are still a lot of other books edited and written by Groys. It makes no sense to list them all.

(this list is made with MLA 2 ed english)

After 2000

Groys, Boris. Unter Verdacht: Eine Phänomenologie der Medien. München: Hanser, 2000.

It has been a long time since I read this book, I better don't attempt a summary from thin air. However, communism and utopia seem not to be terrible important for it.

Groys, Boris. Das kommunistische Postskriptum. Orig.-Ausg., 1. Aufl. Edition Suhrkamp 2403. Frankfurt am Main: Suhrkamp, 2006.

A little book of not even 100 pages, attempts to think communism as a society in which "power and its critique operate in the same medium" (p. 9). From this dubitable definition of communism, Groys derives an interesting question focusing on language and its power in the communist state.

Groys, Boris. Die Kunst des Denkens. Weibel, Peter. Fundus-Bücher 169. Hamburg: Philo Fine Arts, 2008.

According to the contents, I see nothing that is of imidiate interest to me right now: http://deposit.d-nb.de/cgi-bin/dokserv?id=3060518&prov=M&dok_var=1&dok_ext=htm
